Preparing for the New Year!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. I did! We had a houseful. It was so much fun watching the kids open their presents. It was really funny when they got clothes because they were kind of tossed to the side. Did you get everything you wanted? I got some good stuff so I can't complain.

Well, it's time to start looking foward to the new year. I am starting to plan my classes, workshops and clubs for the new year. These are the clubs I will be offering.

Stamping Club - This will be a monthly get together where we will meet and stamp 2-3 different projects. How long we meet will depend on how many ladies participate. Your responsibilities will be placing an order depending on how many ladies participate (could be low as $15), and you will act as the hostess during one of these months where you will receive the benefits. Everyone will also receive a free catalog. If you cannot make it to a club night, you are still responsible in placing an order.

Marker Club - Do you have your eye on the SU markers? They are SWEET!!!! Love them!!!! This is a four month club that enables you to get ALL the markers, a case, cardstock, a level one hostess set and some free merchandise. One month you are the hostess and receive extra free merchandise.

If you are interested in hosting a workshop, January is a great time to do it! With the new catalog coming out, what a great time to stock up on some new stuff.

Be watching for some new classes coming! I will continue my techniques class which happens on the 2nd Friday of the month in Terrell. If you want to do one of these classes at your home, the class is FREE for you!

If there is something you want out the Fall-Winter catalog, get it now! December 31 will be the last day I will be placing an order for this catalog.

Thanks for another great season of stamping! I'm looking forward to another great year of stamping with you in the new year!

Techniques Class

Alright...it's been a week since my techniques class. We didn't have a big group but I believe the few that did come had a good time. Here's what we did.

Technique #1 - Split Negative

I got this idea from a fellow demonstrator...not sure who it was who did this. This one was pretty hard to keep straight. The hard part about this technique is making sure you stamp both images in the same spot. I guess you could use a stampamajig. This didn't come to me until just now. DUH!!! This would make it line up so much easier. Oh well...live and learn!

Stamp Set: Fabulous Friends
Paper: Close to Cocoa, Sky Blue, Whisper White
Ink: Close to Cocoa, Versamark, Chocolate Chip Craft
Accessories: Clear Embossing Powder, White Embossing Powder, Ticket Corner Punch, Sky Blue Double Stitched Ribbon

Technique #2 - Reflection

This was a fun one! This really gets the oohhs and aahhs going. I just purchased this set and was so glad to see that it didn't retire!

Stamp Set: Lovely As a Tree
Paper: Brocade Blue, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White
Ink: Black, Mellow Moss, Bashful Blue
Accessories: Sponges, Acetate

Technique #3 - Thumping

This is a technique that I don't see alot of so it was hard to find samples of this. I did find a layout I loved (I love the colors of this one) and changed it up a little to make it work for the thumping.

Stamp Set: Looks Like Spring
Paper: Mellow Moss, Blush Blossom, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White
Ink: Blush Blossom Classic, Mellow Moss and Chocolate Chip markers
Accessories: Crafters Tool Kit, Silver Brads, Moss Gingham Ribbon

As always, thanks so much for looking. I may not post again until after Christmas! Have a great weekend!

IT'S HERE!!

Guess what I came home to last night? That's right...the long anticipated 2008 SU! catalog. I love the cover...so springy! I apologize if the picture is too small. I haven't learned how to enlarge the picture without making it too big to download.

I must admit that when I heard they sent these out, I didn't think I would get this until after Christmas. Then I started hearing at the message boards that demos were getting their catalog.

I briefly glanced through it last night but I'm going to really be looking through it tonight. If you haven't order yours, do it now!!

New Catalog

I have heard so many demos are getting their catalog. I hope that I get mine real soon! I've heard alot of good things are in it. Once I get it, you will be the first to know!

At my stamp clubs, I encourage my stampers to make a card for a next meeting. It's usually a themed card but with the holidays, I haven't pushed them to do it. This past month, I encouraged to make something they have learned during the club meetings. I forgot to mention it before our meeting on Monday but I did have one person try something new.

This is a card one of my stampers, Valorie, did. She tried something new...she made a shaker card. I think she did a great job! Thanks Valorie for sharing your creativity!

Don't forget about the retiring stamps! Though it is too late to get them for Christmas, don't let them slip away before the new year. The last day to order is January 1.

We have one special going on this month so check it out!!

Crazy Weekend!

What a crazy weekend this was!! I don't think I was home for more than a couple of hours this weekend. I was home long enough to sleep though I didn't get much of that. This coming weekend will be calm considering that Christmas is right around the corner.

I had hoped to do some stamping this weekend but didn't get any done. I had my technique class Friday. I usually have a good group of ladies come to this but we had rain and that did cause the attendance to drop. But the few that were there did enjoy themselves. I will post what we did tomorrow.

Tonight I have my stamp club. I hope they enjoy the projects we do. I'll share those later this weekend.

This card is one I did in the summer. You can never have enough birthday cards!

Stamp Set: Eat Cake
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Pretty in Pink, Au Chocolate Designer Paper
Ink: Chocolate Chip Stamp Pad, Chocolate Chip, Pretty in Pink, and Yoyo Yellow markers
Accessories: 2-Way Glue, Dazzling Diamonds

I've heard some demos have already received their new catalog. I'm hoping I receive mine this week. I've even seen some of the new stuff. It looks like there are some good accessories coming out. Be watching for info on my upcoming Open House to celebrate the new catalog!

Until tomorrow...stay warm!

Christmas Again!

Here are two more cards I did. These cards use the Dashing paper...same design but different background paper.

Stamp Set: Glad Tidings
Paper: Real Red, Always Artichoke, Very Vanilla
Ink: Basic Black
Accessories: Corner Rounder Punch, Double Circle Punch, Spiral Punch, 2-Way Glue, Dazzling Diamonds, Mellow Moss Taffeta Ribbon

Please remember to check out the special SU! is promoting. You can find the links over on the right hand side. They will be ending Saturday.

Until tomorrow...

Christmas

Christmas is just around the corner! Can you believe it? Have you finished your Christmas shopping yet? I have but I have a few other gifts to get. Our family has grown in the last year so we decided to draw names. I got my sister, and I've got her gift taken care of. Now I'm going to get all the kids something small. Christmas is going to be fun this year. Isaiah will be able to open his own presents. It will be fun

I got to participate in another demo's SAS about a month or so ago. This is one of the cards we did. As always, I love the simplicity of this. The stamp set was actually a set I would have never thought to use.

Stamp Set: Illuminations
Paper: Handsome Hunter, Glossy White
Ink: Handsome Hunter
Accessories: Purely Pomegranate Satin Ribbon

I love this card!!

Just a quick reminder about my techniques class this Friday. We will be learning the techniques of reflection, split negative and thumping. It should be a fun night!

Stay dry and have a good evening!

The retired wheels and accessories list is out and are available while supplies last, so make sure you place your orders no later than January 1. Almost all of the designer paper will be going so if there is particular set you want, make sure you order it. I will try to update this list as things become unavailable.

Snowflakes

Sorry I've been MIA the last couple of days. I didn't have anything to share, and I've been pretty busy the last couple of days.

You know last weekend I had the great idea about working on some stuff. Well, I had the house to myself and did absolutely NOTHING! I sat in front of the tv and watch Harry Potter. How's that for being lazy? It was actually wonderful!!!

This weekend I plan to really get busy. I'm going to finish up my Christmas cards and hopefully work on some class projects. Maybe I'll have something to share next week.

This is one my cards I did at my SAS last year. I love the look of this. Very simple.

Stamp Sets: Snowflakes
Paper: Night of Navy, Buckaroo Blue, Silver, Whisper White
Ink: Night of Navy, Buckaroo Blue
Accessories: Navy Organdy Ribbon, Silver Cording

Fall-Winter Catalog Retirement List is Here!

Well, the list is out! There aren't a whole lot of sets going because we had such a big list go out in July but if there is a holiday stamp set you want, you might check out the list and see if your set is retiring. Check it out here. I'm glad to say that I'm only losing 5 sets. I'm losing 2 of my favorite sets - Frosty (I knew this was coming!) and All About U. I've used Frosty every Christmas for my own personal use plus for Stamp-A-Stacks. All About U is a very versatile set...good for almost every occassion. Real sad about this going. :-(

There are a few alphabet sets going and of course, I own one of them - Headline Alphabet. I'll be honest and say that it's real hard for me to purchase alphabet sets because I never know what's going to last for awhile. Though I must admit, I got this set free as an incentive set.

Stampin' Up! is also offering Five Fantastic Gifts Under $25. Check it out here.

Well, check out the list and see if there is any set on their you just can't live without. These sets are available to order until December 31st. If you want a set for Christmas, to ensure delivery by Christmas, please get me your order by the 12th.

City of David

Well, Friday is finally here! This is probably the last weekend I have free until the new year so I'm going to take advantage of it by doing some stamping. I've got two classes to get ready for so I'm going to try out some new projects.

Now for something totally off the subject...I've seen other people's blogs that have different color type and formatting and wondered how they did that. Well, I finally figured out how to do it on my blog after how many months? Don't know if I will do much formatting but it's nice to know that I can now do that.

Now back to stamping...

This is one of the cards I did at my SAS. This is what is called a Z-fold card. You take an 8 1/2 x 11 and cut it to 4 1/4 x 11. You then would score it at 5 1/2 and 2 3/4. You fold it in half like a regular card and then you fold the small part the other direction which gives you the Z-fold.

Here's what it looks like closed.

Now, here's what it looks like opened. (Sorry for the small scan. I haven't figured out how to make my pictures look the same yet!)

Stamp Sets: City of David
Paper: Ballet Blue, Night of Navy, Confetti White
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Ballet Blue pad and marker
Accessories: Chocolate Chip 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon

As always, thanks for stopping by and looking! Have a great weekend!

Christmas

Here is another Christmas card I did for my SAS. You will never guess what stamp set this is! This is Heartfelt Thanks. I needed another Christmas card, and I didn't want to have to buy or borrow another set. I saw this done two different ways on two different sites and thought I would try it.

The wreath part is the flower stamped at 12, 3, 6, 9 (clock position) and then stamped in between by inking up and stamping then stamping two more times with reinking. I hope this makes sense. :-\ The berries are the flower dot.

I really liked how this came out. Now that I really look at it, I probably should have used a lighter color for the greeting. The black is really to dark on the burgandy. Other that that, I thought it came out good.

Stamp Sets: Heartfelt Thanks, Happy Everything, Pattern Background
Paper: Bravo Burgandy, Always Artichoke, Very Vanilla
Ink: Bravo Burgandy, Always Artichoke, Black
Accessories: Bravo Burgandy 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon, Mini Glue Dots

Snow Flurries

Here's another card I did for my Stamp-A-Stack. It's not your typical colors but I like it!

Stamp Sets: Snow Flurries, Sincere Salutations
Paper: Bashful Blue, Night of Navy, Whisper White
Ink: Bashful Blue, Night of Navy
Accessories: Bashful Blue 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon

I saw this card on Splitcoast but the original design used Sky Blue and Blue Bayou. Since I didn't have those, I changed up the colors. It still worked!

Anyone a big fan of "Dancing with the Stars"? Anyone disappointed that Mel and Max didn't win? I am!! But I can't say anything because I didn't vote. I was so hoping that a lady was going to win this around. Oh well...until the next season!

City of David

Here's a card I did last year. I love the look of this card. I copied this card from our demo monthly magazine. It doesn't have a lot to it...so simple.

Stamp Set: City of David
Paper: Bordering Blue, Bravo Burgandy, Kraft, Naturals Ivory
Ink: Bravo Burgandy, Bordering Blue
Accessories: Ivory Organdy Ribbon, Vintage Brads

As we get closer to Christmas, we also get closer to the end of this season's catalog. The new Spring/Summer catalog will be coming out January 1 and the retirement list for the Fall/Winter catalog will be here December 1. If there is something you like in this catalog, don't let it slip away from you.

Don't forget to check out the Stampin' Up! specials!

Baroque Christmas

I used my favorite stamp set again, Baroque Motifs, to do this Christmas card. I love how versatile this stamp set is. I would never have thought to use this as a Christmas card. This is one of my cards I did at my SAS.

Stamp Sets: Baroque Motifs, Holidays & Wishes
Paper: Glorious Green, Real Red, Whisper White
Ink: Glorious Green, Real Read, Black
Accessories: Scallop Punch, 1 3/8 Circle Punch, 1/16 Hole Punch, Crimper, Silver Brads and Dimensionals

Thanks to all of you who come and check out my blog! I most likely won't be posting for the rest of the week. In this season of thanksgiving, I am thankful for all of you...my customers who I consider my friends. Have a blessed Thanksgiving!

Something New

I was invited to participate in a craft swap this past weekend so I was trying to figure out what I could do. I wanted to stay away from cards because I do those all the time.

Well, I saw this and thought it was cute and something different. It was very easy to make. I must give credit to Erika Martin for her tutorial on this. She does some great stuff. If you want to check her website, check it out here. Her stuff is different but it looks good!

Stamp Set: Letterpress Alphabet
Paper: Christmas Designer Paper from last year, True Thyme, Bravo Burgandy
Ink: True Thyme, Bravo Burgandy
Accessories: Coasters, Ivory Organdy Ribbon

Dane

I made this frame last night for the newest member of our family - Dane Ashton Frank. Bubba Dane (as his sister calls him) arrived 2 months early. He weighed 3 lbs. and 6 oz. when he was born on September 21. He was in the hospital for about a month. He came home right before Halloween. He is so sweet and so tiny. It's hard to believe that my other nephew was just this size when he was born. They grow up so fast!!

I got the frame at Walmart and used some paper I had. The stamp set is Baby Talk, and it retired last year. Thanks Valorie for the use of the stamp set. The alphabet is Letterpress and it is current.

Anyway, we are having a baby shower for my sister-in-law since we didn't get a chance to give her one before the baby came. This is one of the gifts I am going to give her plus if time allows tonight, a small brag book.

Let's hope and pray that I can get it done tonight because the shower is tomorrow afternoon. I have a SAS in the morning and then this. Talk about cutting it close! I hope she likes it!

Techniques Class

The work day is almost over and the weekend is almost here! Here are the cards and techniques we did last week.

Technique #1 - Spotlight

Stamp Set: In Full Bloom
Paper: So Saffron, Always Artichoke, Ruby Red, Whisper White
Ink: Black, Ruby Red, So Saffon and Black markers
Accessories: 1 1/4" and 1 3/8" Circle Punches, Aqua Painters

On this card, I had first colored in the flower of the spotlight but I thought it looked too bold. So I had the ladies use the aqua painter to watercolor in the color.

Technique #2 - Heat Embossing

Stamp Set: All About U
Paper: Black, Pale Plum
Ink: Pale Plum, Versamark
Accessories: Tag Corner Punch, Black Embossing Powder

Some of the ladies got creative with the embossing on this. Instead of just doing the word "thank," they also did a flower. They are a creative bunch of ladies!

Technique #3 - Shaker Card

Stamp Set: A Tree for All Seasons, Wonderful Words
Paper: Blue Bayou, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White
Ink: Black, Earth Elements markers
Accessories: 1 3/8" Square Punch, beads, small buttons, acetate

This was another fun card. I heard some of the ladies already discussing other things they could do to make these.

The ladies love this class, and I love showing them new things. Check back to find out what's going to happen next month.

This Saturday is my Christmas SAS so I will be getting ready for that plus I got a hair-brain idea to do a little brag book for my sister-in-law's baby shower. The bad part about this is that the shower is Saturday. What was I thinking?!?!?

Have a great day!

File Folder Card

I saw this first done on Beate's blog a while back. I decided to see if I could do this. The cutting and scoring weren't too hard. It was cutting the corners to make it look like a file folder. I have the old corner rounder so I don't know if that makes a difference when doing this. It will take some practice before I "perfect" it. Then I made a little insert to go into it. I think it needs a round tab so that it is easier to pull out.

I used the Outlaw designer paper. When I first saw this paper, I wasn't too thrilled about it but there are some great papers in it. I used a color cardstock I don't use alot.

Here are the specifics...enjoy!

Stamp Sets: Hugs & Wishes, Priceless
Paper: Sage Shadow, Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla, Outlaw Designer Paper
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa, Sage Shadow
Accessories: Corner Rounder, Chocolate Grosgrain

Don't forget...this month our designer paper is on sale. Buy 3...get 1 FREE!!! Offer good until the end of the month.

Christmas...

Well, I started playing with some designs for my SAS this Saturday. This is one of the ideas I came up with using my new set, "City of David." I liked this set last year but had already purchased a Christmas set so I didn't get it. I was glad when it made this catalog again this year. I got this set as an incentive set for starting a stamp club.

As always, thanks for looking, and I hope you will join me Saturday. It's not too late to come!

Sorry for the bad scan!

Stamp Set: City of David
Paper: Night of Navy, Brushed Silver, Shimmery White
Ink: Night of Navy
Accessories: Silver Cord

Frosty #2

I've been getting ready for my Christmas stamp-a-stack, and I ran across this card I did last year. I love the colors of this card. It's not your traditional colors.

Stamp Set: Frosty, Warm Words
Paper: Mellow Moss, Almost Amythest, Vintage Violet, Confetti White
Ink: Mellow Moss, Vintage Violet, Basic Black, Mellow Moss, Real Red and Black markers
Accessories: Small and Large Oval Punch, Moss Gingham, Vintage Violet Ribbon

I hope that you will make plans to attend my SAS. You will come away with 20 cards. It will give you a head start on sending your Christmas cards!

Come join me Saturday, November 17 from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the LaQuinta Inn in Mesquite!!

Ink: Chocolate Chip, Cameo Coral, Mellow Moss, So Saffron

Well, as we start getting ready for the holidays, I'm starting to work on my Stamp-A-Stack designs. This is one of the cards I might be doing.

Stamp Set: Frosty
Paper: Garden Green, Real Red, Whisper White
Ink: Garden Green stamp pad, Garden Green, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie and Going Gray markers
Accessories: Ticket Corner Punch, Red Gingham Ribbon, 2-Way Glue Pen, Dazzling Diamonds

This is another one of my favorite sets. This is one of the first sets I purchased when I was first introduced to Stampin' Up! I am surprised it has lasted this long in the catalog. I'm sure it will be retired soon.

I do hope that you will make plans to join me for my Christmas Stamp-A-Stack on Saturday, November 17 from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Never stamped before? Not a problem because everything will be pre-cut for you. You will walk away with 20 cards for $25. Check out my calendar for more details.

Thanks for stopping by!

October's Technique Class

Well, October is almost over, and I'm just now posting what we did in our techniques class. Our next class is Friday, November 9 at 7:00 p.m. This is held in Terrell but if that's too far for you, I would love to come to your house and do this class for you and your friends. Cost of the class is $10 but if you host it, it's FREE for you. I have a great group of ladies in Terrell but I would love to come to your house and do the same thing with you and your friends.

This past class was a very messy class as we played with bleach, shaving cream and watercolor crayons. This was fun because you never know who each card is going to turn out.

Technique #1 - Stamping With Bleach

Stamp Set: Polka Dots & Paisley
Paper: Bordering Blue, Night of Navy, Gable Green, Whispering White
Ink: Night of Navy, Gable Green
Accessories: French Blue Grosgrain Ribbon, bleach

This is the technique that got the most cool factor. The question was asked if the bleach would ruin your stamps. I'm sure over time it would but immediately after we were done, I rinsed with water and then cleaned with the stamp and mist.

Technique #2 - Shaving Cream

Stamp Set: Eat Cake
Paper: Certainly Celery, Almost Amythest, Whispering White
Ink: Certainly Celery stamp pad, Regal Rose and Almost Amythest markers, Pretty in Pink, Almost Amythest, and Mellow Moss reinkers
Accessories: Dimensionals, Rose Grosgrain Ribbon, shaving cream

This was also cool because everybody's background came out different. It was very messy but it was also so much fun to create. I actually made up some birthday cards using this technique. What fun!!!

Technique #3 - Watercolor Crayons

Stamp Set: Give Thanks
Paper: Not Quite Navy, More Mustard, Close to Cocoa, Very Vanilla
Ink: More Mustard, Not Quite Navy, Timber Stazon, Earth Elements Watercolor Crayons
Accessories: Aquapainters, Linen Thread

Not much to this...very plain and simple.

I do hope that you will be able to join us for the next class. I'm working on the techniques now and you'll soon find out what we will be doing. If you have any questions about these techniques, don't hesitate to email me.

As always, thanks for looking!

Baroque Motifs - Swap Card

I joined this 9-month swap where each month we have to use something different on our cards. Last month we had to use the Prints Designer paper. This month we had to use either brads, eyelets or buttons. I chose to use brads, and this is my design.

I have such a hard time using my eyelets and buttons. I'm going to have to start thinking outside of the box and start using those things.

I don't know if you can tell or not but for the scallop circle, I punched holes in the each scallop. It was something different I haven't done.

I hope you all have a great weekend, and I hope to have something new to share on Monday.

Stamp Set: Baroque Motifs
Paper: Brocade Blue, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White
Ink: Brocade Blue, Old Olive
Accessories: Scallop Circle Punch, Silver Brads, Crafters' Tool Kit, Dimensionals

Stamp Club Swaps

To get my stamp clubbers to stamp, I started doing swaps with them. Every month we have a theme and this month's theme was "thank you" cards. Please check them out here!

Not all of them use Stampin' Up! but I want them to stamp. The whole purpose of our clubs is to get ideas and do some stamping with those stamps we buy.

Thanks for looking!

Bad News

Sorry I haven't been posting new stuff in a while but I have been crazy busy at work. Plus, I was busy getting things ready for a ladies retreat this past weekend so I haven't had much time for stamping or anything else really.

I would like you all to say a prayer for me. I received some bad news Sunday night that one of my dearest friends, Debra Abbott, passed away. She was 37 years old and leaves behind her husband, Stephen, and two children - Jessica, 15 and Christopher, 13. I was in totaly shock when I received the call and am having hard time dealing with it. Please remember the Abbotts in your prayers plus her family, the Jacksons, as well as those close to her as we all deal with this sudden loss.

I hope to return back with some new stuff to post.

Thank you for your prayers!

Whew!!!

This has been a crazy weekend!! I don't think I could have put one more thing in my schedule. Friday night was my techniques class. We had a good time! I'll share those photos with you later this week.

Saturday was the craft fair. I did okay with sales. I sold mostly my retired sets which is great because that makes more room on my shelves for more stamp sets. I did sell quite a few cards too. Overall, it was a good experience. I don't know if I will do it again next year or not. The wind was horrible, and there wasn't a lot of people coming through.

Yesterday was my stamp club meeting. I had some ladies visit and may be starting another club here soon. This is one of the projects we did. Some of them have been wanting to watercolor so we did this card. I think the majority of the ladies got their first hand experience with the crayons and aquapainters. This card was featured in November's Stampin' Success magazine using a different technique. This is a magazine we as demonstrators get every month full of ideas. I thought it looked simple enough to do at stamp club.

Stamp Set: Give Thanks
Paper: River Rock, Ruby Red, Always Artichoke, Watercolor Paper
Ink: River Rock, Black Stazon, Earth Elements Watercolor Crayons
Accessories: More Mustard Grosgrain Ribbon, Spiral Punch, Aquapainters
