Swap

A couple of weeks ago, we had a demo power training and a swap. Customers were invited to this event and we got to see a few demonstrations. We saw demos using the flower fusion, bloom diecuts, carousel notes and a few other things. But before we got into the demos, we had a swap.

This was my card. I saw this on Splitcoast and I thought it was different. I don't remember the creator. We had to make 16 swaps. Of couse, at the time, the flowers didn't seem so bad but after cutting out 48 (I think...doing math in my head!) of them, I was wishing I hadn't done this. I think it came out ok though. I used the new striped grosgrain too!

Stamp Set: Priceless
Cardstock: Kraft, Wild Wasabi, Purely Pomegranate, Whisper White
Ink: Groovy Guava, Wild Wasabi, Purley Pomegranate
Accessories: Wild Wasabi Striped Grosgrain, Groovy Guava Petal Prints Designer Paper

Techniques

We had a great time Friday night at the techniques class. Though we were low in numbers we had a good time. On to the techniques...

Technique #1 - Bleached Stamped Images

If you like bleach stamping then you might like this technique. What I did with this is heat embossed with clear embossing powder the flowers onto Ruby Red. Then I took a cup of bleach and "painted" it on to the flowers. I think my bleach must have been old because some of the flowers look bleached out and some don't. I can't take credit for the design. I found it on another demo's blog site. I can't remember the name. I like how it came out.

Stamp Set: Embrace Life, Holidays & Wishes
Cardstock: Groovy Guava, Ruby Red, Wild Wasabi
Ink: Ruby Red, Versamark
Accessories: Clear Embossing Powder, Groovy Guava Double Stitched Ribbon

Technique #2 - Dyed Background

I found this technique on a email group I belong to mostly for demos - SUDSOL. This was a technique I haven't seen any of. When I was on the SUDSOL website, this was the first time I saw it. It's very easy to do. You take 2-3 reinkers and drop 1-2 drops on to a plate and then spritz with alcohol. You then brayer over it and on to a piece of glossy paper. I thought it looked pretty neat. I used the same colors as the bleached images one but just changed a color.

Stamp Set: Doodle This, Wonderful Words
Cardstock: Ruby Red, Groovy Guava, Glossy White
Ink: Black Stazon, Groovy Guava and River Rock reinkers
Accessories: Rubber Brayer, 1/16" Hole Punch, Silver Brads

Technique #3 - Masking

This is a technique that has been around for while...at least as long as I can remember. It's very simple and fun to do. When I first saw this, I was wondering how they did it.

Stamp Set: Friendship Blooms (SAB)
Cardstock: Mellow Moss, Chocolate Chip, Regal Rose, Whisper White
Ink: Timber Brown Stazon, Mellow Moss, So Saffron and Regal Rose watercolor crayons
Accessories: Aquapainters, Chocolate Chip Grosgrain Ribbon, Dimensionals, Crafters Tool Kit

February Swap

As you may or may not know, I love swaps!! Besides creating things for classes, this is another way for me to create.

I joined a 9-month swap and for February we had to make use of any of the Accents & Elements kits, the On Board Accents, the Pretties Kit or the Build-A-Brad kit. Needless to say, I don't have 3 of the 4 items. I had the On Board Accents. The hard part of this is the swap requires us to make 7 card fronts (8 if I make one for myself). In most of the items, there are only 3 - 6 of the same thing so I had a very hard challenge in front of me.

I didn't know what I was going to do because if you know me, I wait until the last minute to do anything. With that said, I didn't have enough time to order more and get it here in order to complete a set. The only thing I had item I had enough of was the bracket things. (I'm not sure what they are called.) I didn't know how I was going to use it and ended up finding a sample in the Fall-Winter Catalog. I used it to highlight a word. WOW!!

This was a tough task. I wish I could say I won't ever wait until the last minute but I know myself to well to know that isn't going to happen. Anyway....

I stamped the chipboard piece with Chocolate craft so it wouldn't look to boring. It took the craft a little while to dry. This is what I came up with. Not too bad considering...This was the original design I came up with. I ended up changing the other card fronts by moving the chipboard piece to the other side and didn't add a rhinestone brad.

Thanks for stopping by and come back tomorrow. Who knows what I will have posted?!?!

Stamp Sets: Friendship Blooms (SAB), Celebrate Everything
Cardstock: Blue Bayou, Sky Blue, Whisper White
Ink: Blue Bayou, Sky Blue, Chocolate Chip Craft
Accessories: Dimensionals, On Board Chipboard Accents

It's Been Awhite...

I can't believe it's been two weeks since my last post. I wish I could say I've been busy stamping but that hasn't been the case. I've been extremely busy at work plus I have a side job that has kept me busy during the evenings.

Things have slowed down at work and I hope to get some stamping done this week. I do have a few things to share so come back this week and see.

This month, SU! is offering "Wild for Wasabi" special product offer!

From March 1 through April 30, you can purchase a specially-priced Wild Wasabi card stock pack for only $3.95--that's 16 sheets of pre-cut (4-1/2" x 11-1/2") and pre-scored (at 1-1/8" and 5-5/8") Wild Wasabi textured card stock that can be used to make all kinds of fun and easy cards and projects!
