City of David

Well, Friday is finally here! This is probably the last weekend I have free until the new year so I'm going to take advantage of it by doing some stamping. I've got two classes to get ready for so I'm going to try out some new projects.

Now for something totally off the subject...I've seen other people's blogs that have different color type and formatting and wondered how they did that. Well, I finally figured out how to do it on my blog after how many months? Don't know if I will do much formatting but it's nice to know that I can now do that.

Now back to stamping...

This is one of the cards I did at my SAS. This is what is called a Z-fold card. You take an 8 1/2 x 11 and cut it to 4 1/4 x 11. You then would score it at 5 1/2 and 2 3/4. You fold it in half like a regular card and then you fold the small part the other direction which gives you the Z-fold.

Here's what it looks like closed.

Now, here's what it looks like opened. (Sorry for the small scan. I haven't figured out how to make my pictures look the same yet!)

Stamp Sets: City of David
Paper: Ballet Blue, Night of Navy, Confetti White
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Ballet Blue pad and marker
Accessories: Chocolate Chip 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon

As always, thanks for stopping by and looking! Have a great weekend!

Christmas

Here is another Christmas card I did for my SAS. You will never guess what stamp set this is! This is Heartfelt Thanks. I needed another Christmas card, and I didn't want to have to buy or borrow another set. I saw this done two different ways on two different sites and thought I would try it.

The wreath part is the flower stamped at 12, 3, 6, 9 (clock position) and then stamped in between by inking up and stamping then stamping two more times with reinking. I hope this makes sense. :-\ The berries are the flower dot.

I really liked how this came out. Now that I really look at it, I probably should have used a lighter color for the greeting. The black is really to dark on the burgandy. Other that that, I thought it came out good.

Stamp Sets: Heartfelt Thanks, Happy Everything, Pattern Background
Paper: Bravo Burgandy, Always Artichoke, Very Vanilla
Ink: Bravo Burgandy, Always Artichoke, Black
Accessories: Bravo Burgandy 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon, Mini Glue Dots

Snow Flurries

Here's another card I did for my Stamp-A-Stack. It's not your typical colors but I like it!

Stamp Sets: Snow Flurries, Sincere Salutations
Paper: Bashful Blue, Night of Navy, Whisper White
Ink: Bashful Blue, Night of Navy
Accessories: Bashful Blue 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon

I saw this card on Splitcoast but the original design used Sky Blue and Blue Bayou. Since I didn't have those, I changed up the colors. It still worked!

Anyone a big fan of "Dancing with the Stars"? Anyone disappointed that Mel and Max didn't win? I am!! But I can't say anything because I didn't vote. I was so hoping that a lady was going to win this around. Oh well...until the next season!

City of David

Here's a card I did last year. I love the look of this card. I copied this card from our demo monthly magazine. It doesn't have a lot to it...so simple.

Stamp Set: City of David
Paper: Bordering Blue, Bravo Burgandy, Kraft, Naturals Ivory
Ink: Bravo Burgandy, Bordering Blue
Accessories: Ivory Organdy Ribbon, Vintage Brads

As we get closer to Christmas, we also get closer to the end of this season's catalog. The new Spring/Summer catalog will be coming out January 1 and the retirement list for the Fall/Winter catalog will be here December 1. If there is something you like in this catalog, don't let it slip away from you.

Don't forget to check out the Stampin' Up! specials!

Something New

I was invited to participate in a craft swap this past weekend so I was trying to figure out what I could do. I wanted to stay away from cards because I do those all the time.

Well, I saw this and thought it was cute and something different. It was very easy to make. I must give credit to Erika Martin for her tutorial on this. She does some great stuff. If you want to check her website, check it out here. Her stuff is different but it looks good!

Stamp Set: Letterpress Alphabet
Paper: Christmas Designer Paper from last year, True Thyme, Bravo Burgandy
Ink: True Thyme, Bravo Burgandy
Accessories: Coasters, Ivory Organdy Ribbon

Have a great day and come back tomorrow!

Dane

I made this frame last night for the newest member of our family - Dane Ashton Frank. Bubba Dane (as his sister calls him) arrived 2 months early. He weighed 3 lbs. and 6 oz. when he was born on September 21. He was in the hospital for about a month. He came home right before Halloween. He is so sweet and so tiny. It's hard to believe that my other nephew was just this size when he was born. They grow up so fast!!

I got the frame at Walmart and used some paper I had. The stamp set is Baby Talk, and it retired last year. Thanks Valorie for the use of the stamp set. The alphabet is Letterpress and it is current.

Anyway, we are having a baby shower for my sister-in-law since we didn't get a chance to give her one before the baby came. This is one of the gifts I am going to give her plus if time allows tonight, a small brag book.

Let's hope and pray that I can get it done tonight because the shower is tomorrow afternoon. I have a SAS in the morning and then this. Talk about cutting it close! I hope she likes it!

Techniques Class

The work day is almost over and the weekend is almost here! Here are the cards and techniques we did last week.

Technique #1 - Spotlight

Stamp Set: In Full Bloom
Paper: So Saffron, Always Artichoke, Ruby Red, Whisper White
Ink: Black, Ruby Red, So Saffon and Black markers
Accessories: 1 1/4" and 1 3/8" Circle Punches, Aqua Painters

On this card, I had first colored in the flower of the spotlight but I thought it looked too bold. So I had the ladies use the aqua painter to watercolor in the color.

Technique #2 - Heat Embossing

Stamp Set: All About U
Paper: Black, Pale Plum
Ink: Pale Plum, Versamark
Accessories: Tag Corner Punch, Black Embossing Powder

Some of the ladies got creative with the embossing on this. Instead of just doing the word "thank," they also did a flower. They are a creative bunch of ladies!

Technique #3 - Shaker Card

Stamp Set: A Tree for All Seasons, Wonderful Words
Paper: Blue Bayou, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White
Ink: Black, Earth Elements markers
Accessories: 1 3/8" Square Punch, beads, small buttons, acetate

This was another fun card. I heard some of the ladies already discussing other things they could do to make these.

The ladies love this class, and I love showing them new things. Check back to find out what's going to happen next month.

This Saturday is my Christmas SAS so I will be getting ready for that plus I got a hair-brain idea to do a little brag book for my sister-in-law's baby shower. The bad part about this is that the shower is Saturday. What was I thinking?!?!?

Have a great day!

File Folder Card

I saw this first done on Beate's blog a while back. I decided to see if I could do this. The cutting and scoring weren't too hard. It was cutting the corners to make it look like a file folder. I have the old corner rounder so I don't know if that makes a difference when doing this. It will take some practice before I "perfect" it. Then I made a little insert to go into it. I think it needs a round tab so that it is easier to pull out.

I used the Outlaw designer paper. When I first saw this paper, I wasn't too thrilled about it but there are some great papers in it. I used a color cardstock I don't use alot.

Here are the specifics...enjoy!

Stamp Sets: Hugs & Wishes, Priceless
Paper: Sage Shadow, Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla, Outlaw Designer Paper
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa, Sage Shadow
Accessories: Corner Rounder, Chocolate Grosgrain

Don't forget...this month our designer paper is on sale. Buy 3...get 1 FREE!!! Offer good until the end of the month.

Christmas...

Well, I started playing with some designs for my SAS this Saturday. This is one of the ideas I came up with using my new set, "City of David." I liked this set last year but had already purchased a Christmas set so I didn't get it. I was glad when it made this catalog again this year. I got this set as an incentive set for starting a stamp club.

As always, thanks for looking, and I hope you will join me Saturday. It's not too late to come!

Sorry for the bad scan!

Stamp Set: City of David
Paper: Night of Navy, Brushed Silver, Shimmery White
Ink: Night of Navy
Accessories: Silver Cord

Frosty

Well, as we start getting ready for the holidays, I'm starting to work on my Stamp-A-Stack designs. This is one of the cards I might be doing.

Stamp Set: Frosty
Paper: Garden Green, Real Red, Whisper White
Ink: Garden Green stamp pad, Garden Green, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie and Going Gray markers
Accessories: Ticket Corner Punch, Red Gingham Ribbon, 2-Way Glue Pen, Dazzling Diamonds

This is another one of my favorite sets. This is one of the first sets I purchased when I was first introduced to Stampin' Up! I am surprised it has lasted this long in the catalog. I'm sure it will be retired soon.

I do hope that you will make plans to join me for my Christmas Stamp-A-Stack on Saturday, November 17 from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Never stamped before? Not a problem because everything will be pre-cut for you. You will walk away with 20 cards for $25. Check out my calendar for more details.

Thanks for stopping by!
